And....she's back!

We are happy to report that Maddy did great at the hospital and that everything went well. We are all happy that it is over with, especially Maddy. I am amazed at how brave she is sometimes and how positive she is. We were waiting for the doctor to come in and talk to us and as soon as he walked in she greeted him with a ver happy "HI!" and a huge smile. The doctor sort of laughed and said that that was the happiest greeting on an injection day he has ever received. They let us come in the room with her while they put her to sleep and they even let her hold tight to the special monkey grandma Beth sent her (Charlie). She was excited to pick the flavor of the medicine and she picked watermelon. It is the only time that I have cried about this whole thing. I have SUCH a hard time watching my kids get put to sleep. EVERY TIME I cry and I should have maybe just sent Dustin in with her because I didn't want to scare her but I can't help it. I think it makes me think of like putting a dog down or something and it is my child! It is horrible for me. We then left the room and waited for the doctor. When he finally came to find us the look on his face made my stomach drop. He sat down for a minute and didn't say anything and then said everything went fine and proceeded to tell us all the joints that he injected. After he left Dustin said "I totally thought something was wrong when he came over here he looked so serious". I guess he is just a serious doctor! But it was really scary for about 2 minutes. Anyway we spent the day trying to force her to take it easy but it was the most beautiful day today and all she wanted to do was jump on the trampoline and ride her bike. Now we will just wait and see how long it takes for the medicine to take affect and and hopefully it will make the joints feel better for four more years! That is what I am hoping for! Thanks for all the calls and well wishes, we really do appreciate it!
They even let her put a hospital bracelet on her monkey. She thought that was about the best thing ever!
This picture is just a preview for the summer. Lilly is getting ready to gorge herself on the local berry farms! I gave her a few frozen blueberries and she had it all over her by the end. This picture doesn't do it justice because she looked SO dirty. Not just regular everyday Lilly dirty but SERIOUSLY messy!

I am so glad that it went so well! Great job Maddy (and mom and dad too!)
I hope it works for 4 more years as well. What a blessing that would be.

We are so glad everything went well. Kai had eye surgery last summer and they had to take him from me to put him under and I bawled for a couple days before and after. I think it's just because you know it has to be awful if they need to put them under and they have no idea what it'll be like. Good job on doing so well!! We hope she is all better soon!

I'm so happy that she did so well! You too! :) Still so sad that she has to go through having arthritis. I really hope that the shots last and that she can be a normal kid doing normal things.

Man, I don't read your blog for like 2 days and so much happens! I'm so sorry to hear about Maddy but so happy that the injections went well - watching children go thru medical procedures is heart wrenching!!!
