Welcome to my 3 year old princess party! Lilly's real birthday was on Thursday but because of all the other things going on we moved it. It's nice when you are only three and you don't know when your birthday is! We moved it to Saturday....much more convenient for everyone!
We started the day off with an Easter egg hunt.....at.....Albertsons! How random and ghetto is that? Out local Albertsons was having an Easter egg hunt and I hadn't really heard about any other Easter egg hunts going on so we rolled out of bed....almost literally....and headed to the store at 8 in the morning. As we were walking in I took a visual check of the fam and realized that we probably belonged at the Albertsons Easter egg hunt. I don't think anyone brushed their hair or teeth (I did though just in case you were wondering).
They basically threw eggs and candy down the aisles and then by age group you rushed and picked up as much as you could. Totally my girls style of Easter egg hunts. If you actually tried to hide an egg I don't think they would ever find it.
I stayed with Lilly while Dustin and Uncle Paul took care of the older ones since they did it at the same time in different aisles. So here is Lilly with her loot.....in front of the laundry detergent.....such a lovely Easter backdrop. On a side note, the first thing Lilly does in the mornings is take her jammies off and put on some variation of a princess dress. Lately it has been this beat up Belle dress that has tickled her fancy. So this morning was the same as always except that we had to rush out the door so fast I didn't have time to actually put any clothes on her. Oh well it was her birthday.
Maddy's loot.
Josey's loot
Also I was secretly hoping that maybe they would give away some of the stores premade Easter baskets or something in the plastic eggs. Well they did have prizes you could win in the eggs. Let's see......Maddy won a cupcake from the bakery......Lilly won a bag of carrots......and Josey won a 1/2 pound of Jo Jo potatoes from the deli.......I will reiterate, random and completely ghetto.
While we were there though I snapped a picture of this cake in the bakery department that I thought I could recreate at home for Lilly's birthday today. Cute huh?
In theory it seemed really easy and cute in my head but I realized later and for a fleeting minute I forgot that I wasn't talented like that. So this is my rendition of the cute cake....... not so cute.
Stop laughing.....and no I can't even blame it on the girls......I made this all myself. That cake is all me. There really aren't any excuses other than examining the fact that I am a terrible baker and have absolutely no creativity when it comes to most things. Lilly didn't seem to care. Actually she was rather disturbed that I took her princesses and put them on the cake. I had to keep telling her that they wanted to watch her blow out the candles and LEAVE THEM THERE!!!!! I WORKED HARD ON THAT CAKE!!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!
So we went home and the girls helped blow up balloons and hang streamers and wrap presents. And then we OFFICIALLY started the party. We didn't invite guests but Lilly had her sisters as her party guests. So we made our party crowns.
I gave everyone the letters of their names to put on their crowns. I can almost make out all the letters of Lilly's name somewhere on her crown.....I think one is in her hair.......once again random and ghetto.
I don't think Maddy could figure out that if she flipped her D's around they would have pointed the right direction. oh well.
And my 6 year old is the ONLY one that actually has her name correct......one out of three isn't bad.
Dustin and Paul were a little disappointed that I didn't get crowns for everyone so they improvised.
When our crowns were done we moved on to cake and ice cream and the best part of all, presents! And don't mind my kitchen in the background of these pictures it sort of exploded during the prep of this party.
I was video taping and so I let Josey man the camera. She didn't do half bad.
This year we finally got Lilly a real bike. Her "bike" of choice in the past has been her little walker that she used when she was learning to walk. It has made me feel bad that she thinks that is a bike. So now she has a pretty princess bike that she can ride outside with her sisters....a and a really scary face.
Complete with basket!
After cake and ice cream and presents, we colored Easter eggs.
And daddy went out and hid some Easter eggs for another egg hunt.
My girls are hilarious. If the eggs aren't just thrown on the lawn they can't find them! What is up with that? We really need to work on our Easter egg hunting skills. They were so frustrated that daddy actually HID some of the eggs. I don't think grocery store egg hunts are really honing their egg hunting skills like they need. Next year I think we are going to have to find a park egg hunt or something.....something more big time.

Sometimes I can hardly believe that it has already been three years that you entered our family.... and then there are days that I can't believe it has ONLY been three years! I have to say that I am making a birthday wish for Lilly's birthday that three will be a little easier for us than two has been. But we really do love you Lilly! Happy Birthday my silly Lilly!

happy Birthday Lilly!
I can't believe thats been 3 years. Crazy! I was watching maddy and josey while you were in the hospital right now 3 years ago. Time goes by so fast. Sniff....sniff....
she is so beautiful. I can't believe her curly blonde hair. She looks like a little angel. Of course, I haven't been around her in a while, so I can't say she ACTS like one, but she sure does LOOK sweet and innocent!
Jess - Don't kid yourself. That cake is a masterpiece! I am so not a cake decorator-girl, so I'm impressed! :)
Happy Birthday!!!!

What a day! I am exhausted just reading about it! And feeling super lousy because we didn't do ANYTHING for Easter this year. Tell Lillly happy birthday. She's adorable. I am missing all of you so much. And sending my love.
Your cake turned out WAY better then my would have!! FYI- I was the Easter Bunny at the Albertson's I worked at for 3 years- I would have given your girls something special if I was there! My Albertsons was more ghetto though- you got 1 piece of candy and no eggs!!
Happy birthday Lilly!!
