So apparently my daughter is the next up and coming "Dear Abbey..." columnist. Yesterday she was playing with one of our neighbors. There are 2 cute girls that live across the street and my girls have hit it off with them. One is 2 years younger than Josey but they have become best friends and the other is 3 years older than Maddy but recently she has been over every night jumping on the trampoline and just hanging out with Maddy. While I will admit that this concerned me a tad bit at first just because the girl is so much older than Maddy I decided to just watch the relationship and see how they interacted. And I will say that I think it has been really fun for Maddy to have an "older" friend. And I realized that possibly Maddy can hold her own.
Maddy and we will call her "Stephanie" for anonymity's sake were upstairs "hanging out" in Maddy's room. I went up a couple of times just to see what they were doing. Everything seemed fine so I didn't worry too much about it. After Stephanie went home Maddy yelled out the door, "Good luck with "Roger" (again anonymity's sake). I asked Maddy what they were talking about and she delved into this whole middle school drama of someone asking someone else out and then breaking up etc.etc. I was a little disappointed that this was what she had been talking about but then she said that she gave Stephanie really good advice. She said that she told him to just ignore Roger and then he would realize that she didn't need him. And she looked at me and said, "You taught me that mom". She said that she was really good at giving boy advice! Once again, something that Maddy is really good at.......because really she has had SO much past experience!
So if anyone has any relationship problems just write to "Dear Maddy". Apparently she gives really good advice.

I'll keep that in mind for when Anna turns 21 and we finally start letting her talk to boys. Maddy will be her go-to girl. ;>
That is too cute! It's nice not to be directly involved in the drama. Good luck to you Mom! Keep teaching her the advice she needs to pass on.
