Pumpkin patch #2: Little People, Papparazzi and Pumpkins!

Well today was pumpkin patch number two (on a side note the next post down is an important one for the girls so don't miss it!) and I have to admit I was the most excited about this one! I don't know how many TLC fans we have out there but I enjoy a good Learning Channel show every now and again. Well there is a show called Little People, Big World on that network. It stars the Roloffs! They happen to live here in Portland and they have a farm and a pumpkin patch. So Dustin and I decided to go out to their pumpkin patch today seeing as we have both seen the show. As we neared the farm this is what we saw..... and there were still more..........
That line was on the main road through the town top get into the Roloff's farm and there was actually a police officer out there directing the traffic. We were in shock! We decided to wait though and luckily for us the line went pretty fast. Because when we finally turned into the lane where they live this is what we saw.....
You will have to blow this one up to appreciate all the cars in line! We stopped just up ahead to get a pamphlet and the guy asked us if we were here for pumpkins or to see anyone special? We replied whole heartedly THE PUMPKINS! He looked at us kinda funny and then said, "Oh! Because there are a few people out today that you might catch a glimpse of and some video cameras going around." Well we realized that the Roloffs were here today helping out at the pumpkin patch and that they were filming an episode of the show! Well that got us VERY excited to think we might be on TV. Maddy actually said this would be her dream come true because she has always wanted to be on TV. ANYWAY we kept driving and FINALLY came to the......SIGN.......
Anyone who has seen the show I am sure will recognize the sign!
So we got out and took some pictures of the girls (of course Lilly refused to cooperate in ANY picture I took today of her)and all the pumpkins.
We then proceeded down to the pumpkin patch to search for our pumpkins. Josey quickly spotted SEVERAL that she wanted and started loading them all in the wagon. Literally this was within five minutes of getting there she had all these pumpkins in the wagon.
Lilly just sort of wandered around looking at all the pumpkins and enjoying the BEAUTIFUL weather. It really was an awesome day.
Maddy on the other hand probably walked around the entire pumpkin patch searching for just the right pumpkin. Here she is describing the perfect pumpkin to daddy and they went in search for it together.
We finally found the perfect pumpkin and loaded it in the wagon.
We then narrowed Josey's down to one pumpkin and picked one for Lilly and away we went to pay for them.
As we got closer we saw the line. Blow up this picture and take a look at the line. We thougt we would be ther for HOURS and Dustin and I were starting to think this was a bad idea. BUT then we realized this was not the line for buying pumpkins. They also give guided tours of the Roloff's farm and this was the line for the guided hay ride tour. This was not something we were particularly interested in so we were happy about that.
While we were paying for our pumpkins we were noticing all the Roloff stuff in the store like t-shirts and other parafanilia. This was funny to me though and so I snapped a picture of the jam. I think that started the CRAZE!
We started taking pictures of the farm around us...... the covered bridge......
the Roloff's house.....
some of the pumpkin patch and farm.....
.......the mule that Matt Roloff drives in the show......
and then we turned into stalker papparazzi. Dustin went to take the pumpkins out to the van and he came running back asking for the camera. He said that Matt was driving the mule around helping people park and he wanted to get a picture of him. Seriously I have not seen him so excited about getting a picture of someone......actually ever. I don't think he is even that excited when we are at Disneyland trying to snap a picture of some Disney character. Anyway, he and the girls started following the mule trying to get some pictures of Matt Roloff. Apparently at one point the camera crew started filming him and the girls. So maybe they will be on an episode. I am just not sure what light they will be portrayed in that episode. It could go both ways, adoring fan.......or creepy nuisance.
Then we snapped a shot of one of the twins (his name is escaping me now) driving one of the tours.
Then we snapped a shot of Zach driving a tour......and then I decided that our paparazzi craze probably needed to end when I was getting a little freaked out at how excited we were getting to get a photograph of people on a reality show on TLC. (Really I have many more pictures we got of the family but it's a little wierd and I don't feel the need to post them here. I will keep them on our nightstand next to our bed in the custom frames I bought for them.)
On the way home I made Dustin stop so I could take a picture of some of the leaves changing on the hill. This picture obviously doesn't do it justice at all but if you blow it up it is a little better. It really is beautiful here with the water and the trees and even the train going by at the edge of the water.
This is how the day ended. We came home and ate dinner at The Moyes Family Restaurant (A little game I thought might work to get the girls to actually eat on leftover night. It was complete with menu's, mood music, and dessert.) Maddy actually picked popcorn for dessert. That was over, cookies, brownies, cupcakes, m&m's and frozen yogurt. Obviously she is not my child. But they looked so cute, all three of them eating their popcorn watching some random Halloween show on Disney. (Maddy and Josey dressed up for the restaurant, hence the dresses.)
All in all it was a spectacular day. It was one of those fall days were the sun is shining but there is still a little nip and chill in the air. So far the pumpkin patches have not been a disappointment. Stay tuned for next Saturday when I think we are hitting the pumpkin patch with the corn maze.........

That is so cool you went to the Rolff's Farm! My kdis would love it! My mother- in- law got the girl's really into the show. Did you not see the whole Roloff craze last year when they did the pumpkin patch, and then the big accident with the launcher? That wouls have prepared you for the lines and you also would have seen you guys aren't the only ones running after them with camera's! The girl's are so cute. Tell Maddy and Josie congrats on the goal and tooth!
