the making of a Christmas Tree

We went out this weekend and found our perfect Christmas tree. It was really fun and such a fun day to get our tree. There are literally TONS of Christmas tree farms all around where we live. We had our pick of probably five within five minutes of our house but we went with this one because it was the cheepest! Every tree was fifteen dollars! We were so excited. And to top it all off it was snowing! The girls were so excited to walk through all the trees and pick out our favorite tree to bring home with us. Honestly it was hard to find one small enough to fit in our living room!

Here they are inspecting each tree to make sure it is up to their standard.
This is us with the Christmas tree before we cut it down. Lovely picture! Dustin insisted that I be in it.
Lilly was a total nightmare. She had gotten to bed really late the night before and BOY did it show. She just wanted to walk the entire time by herself. It was muddy and on a slope and that was NOT a good combo. She just kept falling into trees, but if you tried to hold her she would just scream to walk.
Dustin was trying to capture her tantrum in his arms. That is licorice on her face not bruises even though I think both of us were getting close.

I wanted to get a Noble Fir tree this year but the girls were so dissapointed by how skinny they were I finally gave in and just let them pick out their favorite Douglas Fir. I think they picked the runt of the bunch but since we don't have a ton of room in our house anyway it worked.

Here is our freshly cut (by Dustin's own hands) Christmas tree.

The girls were comforting the tree when daddy was trimming it down. They were really afraid that it was being hurt and we had to convince them that the tree would be okay. They had already named it Minty and kept telling us how much they cared for the tree.

We got it strapped on the car in the snow and left for home.

Here is the finally resting spot of Minty the Christmas Tree. We haven't decorated it yet but plan on doing that on Monday night. It is a great tree and probably the best most healthy tree we have ever purchased and the best part is that it cost us less than half of what we paid last year!

Wow! Fifteen Dollars!?! That is amazing. We spend way more than that and they are tiny! Your tree is beautiful!

We're so jealous--cutting down your own tree and snow!! What fun things to get you in the holiday mood (not to mention the cheap price!)

I SO miss cutting down a live christmas tree, its such a fun outing and makes your house smell good. But as you remember in vegas, you pay like $75 for a half dead tree!

So Fun! I'm sure that's one of the perks to living in the northwest. I'didn't even check to see how much trees were here in Florida. We put up an old 4 ft fake one and called it good! I hope your girls aren't crying when you get rid of the tree (or should I say "Minty")after Christmas! Good Luck.
