Our Green Weekend

Here is our where our resident frog hangs out. These pots used to have very pretty flowers in them way back when. They started dying and I put them behind the fence in our backyard which until this weekend was just a gravel pit basically. It was somewhere I really didn't go and I forgot all about these pots I stuck back there. Then the rains came and a couple of weeks ago the girls realized that there was a frog living in this pot! We dragged it up by the family room and now every night we get to hear our little Philbert the Frog bellowing his love songs. Many nights he gets some cute little frog out there to answer him. And let me tell you he is LOUD! We had some people over and they actually thought there was a frog behind our couch because he is so loud. We love him though and now I can't bring myself to clean out the pot. And I am secretly hoping that maybe his girlfriend will join him in the adjacent pot and they can sing us to sleep each night. Here is our new backyard! Dustin worked so hard Friday and Saturday to spread all our new top soil around our yard and fertilizer and grass seed. The girls were in heaven helping out and now we just get to watch our little grass sproutlings pop their little heads up. We are so excited to have grass in our backyard. We even left alittle corner over there on the left for our garden ......eventually.

And here is our newest four year old with her own little growing plant. A couple of weeks ago she came home from sunbeams with this little plastic cup with a little seed in it. I stuck it up on our kitchen window sill and totally forgot about it. So the other day I looked and saw this gigantic plant that no one had even watered! Lilly was so excited! Excuse the hair, it is left over from her birthday and working outside with daddy and mommy gone all morning.

And here is our big girl actually wearing jeans! This is huge for her. She only wears elastic pants and really only 2 pairs that are acceptable for her. So the other day she came in with her jeans on and was excited because apparently they are rockstar jeans...who knew! It is really weird seeing her in jeans for some reason. It makes her look old or something.

she IS getting soo old! Your backyard is going to look so good! It has been a process with ours, and now by the time it is done, it will be too hot to even go outside. You are lucky you can grow just about anything in Oregon for your garden!
